CDR™
Structural Agility - Managed Results

CDR™ is an offering to help both business and IT professionals rapidly progress up the Service-Oriented Maturity Model with agile processes and practices.

Embarking on a successful Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) initiative depends on how well it is carried out and adopted by the organization. This means that certain processes and practices must be adhered to in order to ensure that those responsible understand what is expected of them, when it is expected and how they can supply the necessary artifacts.

Alleviating this risk means utilizing a foundational methodology for delivering solutions to meet strategic and tactical goals while moving up the Service-Oriented Maturity Model (SOMM).

The Service-Oriented Maturity Model

CDR™ is our methodology for ensuring successful adoption and long-term benefits for both business and IT users. The concepts, processes and strategies described here reflect years of research and practical experience in designing, developing and managing projects that are service-oriented in nature.

Examining the CDR

The CDR™ is our delivery methodology for ensuring successful adoption and long-term benefits for both business and IT users when employing a service-oriented approach to solving problems.

This methodology was fully designed to rapidly escalate you up the Service-Oriented Maturity Model. It should also be noted that although the diagram depicts a sequential process, parallel efforts are usually and strongly recommended. For example, while individuals are working in one phase such as conceptualize, others individuals can be working in other phases such as design and realization. This agile approach allows greater productivity while decreasing costs and increasing competitive advantage.

The CDR Phases

The methodology was designed to help all stakeholders in a service-oriented adoption process.

  • Understand business objectives.
  • Design and create business scenarios that meet objectives.
  • Realize a services approach to business agility and transformation.
  • Institute programs for making sure integrations are successful and continually managed.

Conceptualize

The primary objective of this phase is to understand the business objectives by beginning the top-down analysis by diving into the key parts of the business entities and their ontology. The focus is narrow - only reviewing the necessary business processes and models related to the business logic being automated for some timed release.

Design

Here we design the necessary business scenarios to meet the business objectives for a particular timed release of services.

Realize

Realize is the phase where the actual work takes place including developing, testing and deploying services. Also included in this phase is the integration at the front-end to client-facing applications and integrating with existing internal and external back-end systems.
